FILMINATION Co., Ltd. (Location: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Hiroaki Kanamaru; hereinafter “FILMINATION”), a distribution platform of Japanese films for global VOD companies, has started to distribute Takashi Ishii's “GONIN” to CHILI, the Milan-based VOD service.

Directed by Takashi Ishii, “GONIN” is a stylishly shot violent action film about five men who, after the collapse of the bubble economy, find themselves on the wrong side of the law. With a star-studded cast that includes Koichi Sato, Masahiro Motoki, Naoto Takenaka and Beat Takeshi (Takeshi Kitano), “GONIN” depicts the friendship and solidarity between men and the beauty of love that predates the modern age.

CHILI is a VOD service founded in 2012 in Milan, Italy. It attracts 20,000-40,000 new users every month and offers more than 25,000 titles, mainly European films and TV series, both major and independent.

Following its success in Italy, Chili S.P.A. has expanded to the UK, Germany, Poland and Australia, and was awarded the European Entrepreneurial Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan in 2017.

In addition to “GONIN”, CHILI is currently streaming Shochiku's national classic “Twenty-Four Eyes”, Dai Sako 's “THE CHAPLAIN”, and “Demolition Girl” directed by Genta Matsugami.

There is a movement to change the current low share ratio of Asian films in the overseas VOD market, which is a promising destination for Japanese films that have been highly acclaimed in Japan and abroad.

FILMINATION will continue to contribute to the development of the Japanese film industry by discovering and launching attractive Japanese films as well as supporting their overseas development.
