FILMINATION launches sales of 48 programs of NHK's video content to overseas VOD companies
FILMINATION Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "FILMINATION"), an online marketplace specializing in movies for the overseas market, has started to sell 48 programs of video content owned by NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) to overseas VOD companies in cooperation with NHK Enterprises, Inc. (NEP).
NEP has been delivering programs of various genres such as dramas, documentaries and animations to overseas broadcasters and distributors for a long time in order to make NHK's excellent visual contents widely known to the world. 3950 programs have been provided to broadcasters and distributors in 29 countries and regions around the world in the fiscal year of 2020.
The first phase of the collaboration between NEP and FILMINATION is the sale of 48 titles of drama, documentaries and children’s programs, including "RYOMADEN－The Legend", "TOKYO REBORN", and " Mimicries" to overseas VOD companies, with more titles to be added in the future.
According to the research firm Fortune Business Insights, the global VOD market is expected to grow to approximately 17 trillion yen by 2027, making it a promising growth market for Japanese general media companies and institutions that have a large number of high-quality contents.
